In Tuktoyaktuk.
22 juni 2018 - Tuktoyaktuk, Canada
Hi all. I was in Tuktoyaktuk. In short Tuk. The new road openend in november but for summer holiday drivers it was only possible to get there when the ferries on the dempster could cross the rivers since begin june. Untill 2 days ago only cars up to 5000 kg were allowed due to road conditions and since my car is empty already 5200 I could not have gone with that car. Most of the times the road was very bad / slippery and I could go then only 20 km per hour. It took me 4.5 hours driving for 146 km but I loved it. Not much wildlife but lots of lakes some still frozen. Tuk has no campground but with about 10 others I stay on a parking lot at the end of the tow. But it is totally worth it. From my windows I see directly the still frozen arctic ocean. As far as I can see ice with some water in it. Really great. I sat outside for hours looking at the ice. Walked even a bit on the ice . I type this ofline still looking at the ice. Next sunset is in august here so I cannot wait for that😃 By now I am back in Inuvik. Road was very bad today after lots of rain last night. Had to wait a while for 2 others blocking the road. Mud was to slippery and one almost slided of the road. After the toad was a bit dryer it worked for them and I could move on to. Need to change to low gear 4wd. Never used that before. Took 4.5 hours back too bit didn't stop for pictures a lot because more rain was comming. In Inuvik it is now 23c while this morning in Tuk it was only 2c. Bye for now
Geniet nog even verder!
Hi Arnold . All that ice is great to see. They told that most of the times the ice is gone earlier but the wind kept the ice there.
Hoi Anita en Egbert. Bedankt. Verder kun je hier niet in Canada behalve vliegen. Maar er waren geen rondvluchten op het moment. Alleen van Inuvik naar Tuk maar dat had ik net gereden😉
